Choanoke Area Development Association of NC, Inc. (CADA) has been approved to receive $200,000 in Urgent Repair Funding (URP 2020 from the North Carolina Housing Finance (NCHFA) to assist very low-income homeowners with special needs or with a full-time household member(s) who have special needs in Bertie, Halifax, Hertford, Martin and Northampton Counties.

What is the Urgent Repair Program?

Choanoke Area Development Association of N.C., Inc. (CADA) has received $200,000 from the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency (NCHFA) under the 2020 cycle of the Urgent Repair Program (URP 20). The program provides funding to assist very low and low-income households with special needs in Bertie, Halifax, Hertford, Martin and Northampton Counties. These funds are used for housing conditions which pose imminent threats to the life and/or safety of homeowners or to provide accessibility modifications and other repairs necessary to prevent displacement of very-low and low-income homeowners with special needs such as the frail, elderly, veterans and persons with disabilities. A total of 32 households are planned to be assisted under URP 20.

Choanoke Area Development Association (CADA) announces its intent to apply for funding of $359,638 through the Community Service Block Grant Anti-Poverty Plan for Fiscal Year 2021 – 2022. CADA’s proposed WorkPlan for this program encompasses services to low-income residents of Bertie, Halifax, Herford, Martin and Northampton Counties. The program focuses on a self-sufficiency component to assists low-income residents obtain assistance with education, employment and supportive services to rise above federal poverty guidelines and become self-sufficient. The proposal may be reviewed on the CADA website (www.nc-cada.org).
